Belgium Success...

Posted in Mike’s Diary on 12th October 2010

Well we’ve just returned from our annual pilgrimage to our favourite river in Belgium and what a week it turned out to be. The party consisted of myself and Lee with his girlfriend Rosie, daughter Kelly and her fella Dean and my old mate Phil Marsh with his wife Angie.

After the long drive through the night we arrived at midday and I wanted to catch up on a few hours sleep – no chance! I chucked out a couple of hookbaits, snowman style with B5 yellow fluoro’s sat on top before getting my head down. Forty-five mins later I was doing battle with a hard scraping 26lb mirror. This signalled the start of things to come!

We managed to bank a total of 36 river carp to 47lb 4oz! The biggun fell to Lee’s rods (who else!) and was the biggest carp we’ve caught from the river to date and a new pb for Lee. Most of the other fish were 20’s and 30’s and all the carp fell to B5 ESL boilies (extended shelf life). The usual fun, sun, BBQ’s and Belgium beer flowed throughout the week and of course our annual Belgium conker championship was held on my Birthday with yours truly holding on to his title!!

And lastly….I’ve just received confirmation that the local council have finally granted planning permission for us to build a house overlooking our lake at Springwood Fishery. It looks like my life is about to get even busier over the next year or two with fishing and all that goes with it having to take a back seat. What a project to replace it with though….here goes….have a good winter…..MW.

Short term preserved boilies

Andy Clark successfully used our short term preserved boilies to tempt this awesome 67lb giant from Gigantica in France.

Many anglers love fresh/freezer boilies, whilst others prefer the convenience of shelf life boilies for those extended sessions or trips abroad. We therefore decided to develop a 'hybrid' between the two and our short term preserved boilies have been used with remarkable success across Europe. Their 30-day shelf life suits many anglers, and if you plan to have your bait delivered a few days before your trip, they will not only be fine for the duration of your stay, but any that are brought back can be put in the freezer and treated as freezer bait thereafter.

These boilies are also ideal for customers ordering bait from outside the UK, because the baits will withstand the shipping duration and can be placed in your freezer ready to use as required. Due to a 'drying out' period they are generally slightly harder than standard freezer boilies.
