Back in the zone!
Posted in Mike’s Diary on 05th November 2012I managed to fish 2 nights a week throughout October and I must admit, it was great to be back in the zone once again. During this time I caught fairly consistently from a few different venues, including some absolutely stunning mirrors. This was particularly pleasing because the next venue I'm targetting is predominantly made up of commons and I must admit, they can become a bit 'samey' after a while. That said, there are some lovely ones in there and my winter/spring target is a 40lb+ common.
Between the fishing trips in October and early November there was of course the small matter of our new bait launch! The new 'Arctic Freeze' went 'live' on November 5th and orders have already far surpassed any expectations, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have supported us. Liquid Flavours
A cracking forty-plus caught from a pressured venue on the B5 with Shellfish Plum flavour. Bait choice was a key factor to a very succesful campaign on this venue.
Liquid flavours play an important roll within the creation of a successful long term bait recipe for a number of reasons. They will not only help to give the finished bait it’s own unique taste profile, but also give it a distinctive ‘label’ that the carp will come to recognise through association. In other words, you will be educating them to eat the bait and recognise the 'taste' and 'smell' over a period of time.
Be careful not to get flavours confused with attractors though, because in terms of nutritional value, unlike liquid foods, they have little or no food value, however, for the reasons outlined above, they are a very important addition to any successful recipe.
